As the healthcare industry struggles to determine the best way to enable real-time transactions, it appears that one segment of our industry has already figured out how to make this work and has been doing so successfully for quite sometime now. The Retail Pharmacy space has managed to create a transaction flow that enables real-time eligibility, claim transmission and adjudication for a majority of their stakeholders. How did this segment of the industry figure out how to do this years ago while the rest of the industry still struggles with real time transaction flow? What key factors led to their success? What can the rest of the industry learn from their example and can we leverage their success?
